The oldest of the Kennelly brothers, arguably the first family of the Perth Heat, Tim signed with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2005 as a non-drafted free agent. He played in the Phillies organisation until 2012, reaching as high as Triple A, one level away from the majors. The Phillies released Kennelly after the 2012 season, in which he hit .242 with 24 RBIs in 82 games spread out across three different minor league levels. He earned the 2011 ABL MVP award, hitting .374 with 10 homeruns and 39 RBIs. A talented all-around athlete, Kennelly played eight of the nine positions on the baseball diamond while in the Phillies organisation, including pitching for three seasons. A longtime member of the Australian national team, Kennelly played for Australia in the Team Australia Challenge games against the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers last March during the 2014 Opening Series in Sydney. After losing a close one to the Dodgers, the Aussies shocked the baseball world by shutting out the Diamondbacks 5-0 on the eve of MLB's Opening Day.
