Chris Oxspring has spent the last two seasons serving as a player-coach for the Blue Sox. Last season Oxspring was 4-4 with a 3.08 ERA after posting a 4-2 record with a 2.23 ERA in the 2010/11 campaign. In 2005, he made his Major League debut and appeared in five games for the San Diego Padres that season. Oxspring spent four seasons at the Triple-A level, with his last season in 2011 in the Detroit Tigers organisation. Over his time at that level, he was 25-16 with a 3.70 ERA. Every year spent in affiliated baseball was in the Padres system, advancing from Single-A at the time he was signed. He won a silver medal with the Australian National Team at the 2004 Olympics and represented the nation at the 2009 World Baseball Classic. In the 2010/11 campaign, Oxspring led the league in strikeouts with a total of 71 and he is the winningest pitcher in Blue Sox history, winning four games in each of the first two seasons.
