Zach Wilson Commits to Another Year
02/06/2019 7:12 PM ET

The enthralling 2018/19 season has come to an end but the action behind closed doors has just begun. Whilst the on-field entertainment may be over, the good news for Cavs fans continues to come as star hitter Zach Wilson has signed the dotted line for a further year.

Wilson captivated fans throughout the season through his incredible ability to launch balls out of the park. Wilson finished 2nd in the league for home runs with a whopping 12 to his name and is keen to defend the capital once again.

It is a significant boost for the Cavs who came so close to a consecutive Championship Series only to be stopped by eventual winners, the Brisbane Bandits.

Negotiations began immediately after the heartbreaking defeat to the Bandits with committing the 28-year-old becoming a priority. Cavalry Director Donn McMichael understood the importance of re-signing the American and is delighted with the outcome.

'Zach had a big reputation in the Atlantic League because of his consistent power hitting and his versatility in the field. The recruiting committee made Zach our number one priority to sign because of his success in the best independent league in America. He lived up to that reputation here in Canberra and took the league by storm.

He's also a great club house guy who was a perfect fit with the culture that we've created and are keen to maintain. We are very pleased to have Zach returning next season. He brings elite power to our lineup and has a great understanding of the game.'

The premature end to the season has left a fire in the belly of Wilson and fans can expect more of the explosive hitting that they came to love for the 2019/20 campaign.
