Game Recap Round 9 Game 2
01/11/2019 5:47 AM ET

In game two of the massive four game set between the Bandits and Cavalry in Brisbane, the Cavalry were able squeak out a narrow 3-1 victory. They have now won the first two games of the series, to vault themselves into first place in the division.

It was a tight pitching duel, with veteran Travis Blackley and ABL newcomer Kyle Kinman put together good starts, keeping the offenses rather quiet.

Both teams put their first runs on the board in the third inning, Canberra getting their run on an RBI triple from shortstop Michael Fransoso, and the Bandits picking up their run on an Andrew Campbell run scoring single.

The next runs weren't put on the board until the eighth, when Craig Massey went deep to center to break the deadlock and put the Cavalry up 3-1.

Blackley worked seven excellent innings for the Bandits, giving up only the one run while striking out four and only giving up three hits. This outing brings his season ERA down to 2.86, good to put him into the top ten in the ABL.

Canberra start Kinman, who has spent most of the season in the Cavalry bullpen, tossed 4.2 innings, giving up only one run and striking out six Bandits batters on the evening. Tomoya Mikami pitched the ninth to close out the ball game and pick up the save.

These two teams are right back at it tomorrow for a double header, beginning at 2:30 at OneHub Stadium Powered by Optus.
