Brisbane will be shooting for a series victory in its top-of-the-table clash against Perth at Holloway Field tonight.

The Bandits (26-8) set up a shot at a series win after taking game one of their doubleheader against the Heat (23-12) 9-5 on Saturday.

T.J. Bennett hit his equal league-leading 14th home run while Logan Wade, Wade Dutton and Adam Weisenburger also went deep.

Brisbane troubled Heat starter Daniel Schmidt as they made a fast-start looking to break a series deadlock.

The Bandits piled on seven runs against the left-hander as he did not get out of the fifth.

Schmidt fell 3-0 behind in the first as Lin Chih-sheng drove in Aaron Whitefield and Wade hit a two-run homer to right field.

Dutton then restored a three-run buffer with his seventh homer after Jesse William's RBI-single in the second opened Perth's account.

Bennett joined the long ball party in the third, drawing level with teammate Donald Lutz on 14 homers for the season.

Brisbane starter Tim Atherton worked five innings, striking out six and giving up three earned runs on eight hits.

He gave up a solo home run to Luke Hughes in the fifth, while Jake Fraley took reliever Zac Treece deep in the sixth as the Heat cut the lead to three runs.

Weisenburger's two-run bomb in the bottom of the sixth helped the Bandits to a five-run lead.

Robbie Glendinning added a late homer for Perth with two out in the seventh.
