01/18/2018 6:13 AM ET

Brisbane sent a statement early in its top-of-the-table clash against Perth on Thursday night before recording a 7-3 victory at Holloway Field.

The Bandits blasted their way to a 5-0 second-inning lead on the back of Donald Lutz - with his league-leading 14th home run - and Lin Chih-sheng going back-to-back against Heat starter Alex Boshers.

The right-hander ended up allowing six runs on 12 hits in 5 1/3 innings, copping his fifth loss of the season despite notching seven strikeouts.

Brisbane starter Ryan Bollinger worked 5 2/3 innings, giving up three runs on nine hits while punching out nine.

Lutz and Lin ensured the left-hander worked with an early lead, going deep back-to-back in the first.

Kenshi Sugiya's second-inning RBI extended the lead before Lin drove in two more runs as the Bandits got off to a fast-start in David Sutherland's 300th game.

Perth fired back in the third as Alex Hall homered after Ulrich Bojarski singled to start the innings.

But homers from T.J. Bennett and Andrew Campbell made sure Brisbane maintained a buffer.

Closer Ryan Searle got the final four outs to draw level Koo Dae-Sung on an ABL record 35 saves.

Campbell, Bennett and 300-gamer Sutherland all collected three hits for the Bandits

Hall finished 3-for-3 for the Heat.

The win marked Brisbane's 11th-straight over Perth at Holloway Field and 10th-straight to start 2018.

The top-of-the-table series continues at 6.30pm local time on Friday.

Lefty Travis Blackley is slated to start for the Bandits against Heat import Kyle Simon.
