Big inning helps Bandits topple Heat
11/25/2017 4:48 AM ET

The Brisbane Bandits picked up right where they left off against the Perth Heat, claiming the first game of their Saturday doubleheader 12-5 in Perth.

The Bandits piled on 16 runs in the series opener last night and wasted no time in this game, piling on eight unanswered runs in the first two innings.

Chih-Sheng Lin began the scoring in the second with a two-RBI single and was promptly followed by a two-run blast from Mitch Nilsson.

Nilsson has lit up the ABL to begin his eighth season in Bandits colours, going 10-for-17 with six RBI in the heart of the Brisbane lineup.

Former Cincinnati Reds slugger Donald Lutz crushed his second home run in as many games to extend the Bandits lead in the 5th.

Reigning ABL pitcher of the week Tim Atherton had a few shaky moments, but ultimately gave the Bandits a quality start, finishing with seven strikeouts in five innings.

Ryan Kift nailed his second home run of the season to get the scoring underway for the Heat, but it wasn't enough as the Bandits maintained their perfect start to season 2017/18.

The Heat and Bandits match-up again straight away in game two of their doubleheader tonight.
