Sydney secure series win
11/18/2017 5:30 AM ET

Adelaide failed to take advantage of scoring first for a second-straight game as Sydney wrapped up a series win at Blue Sox Stadium on Saturday night.

The Bite struck early off Blue Sox starter Clayton Freimuth, adding two runs in the first inning.

But like game one of the doubleheader, Sydney hit back with two runs of its own in the bottom half of the first.

Jin-De Jhang tied the ballgame with a two-run homer - his first in the ABL - after Chang Tai-shan and Isaias Quiroz drove in Adelaide's runs.

From that point Freimuth took control, retiring 11 straight hitters before Rodrigo Ayarza singled in the top of the fifth.

The left-hander allowed four runs on seven hits as he struck out seven hitters in five innings.

As Freimuth fired, the Blue Sox offence added three more runs to take the lead.

Michael Campbell drove in a run in the third and Gavin Fingleson's two-run double in the fourth made it 5-2.

The Bite hit back in the fifth, cutting the lead to one courtesy of RBI-singles by Stephen Lohr and Angus Roeger.

Adelaide starter Chris Powell finished a rough outing with five runs on eight hits to his name.

The former LA Dodgers prospect walked three and struck out for before being replaced by Chris Burkholder.

Sven Schueller recorded the save for Sydney with a scoreless ninth.

The Blue Sox will look to complete a series sweep in game four on Sunday.
