11/17/2017 5:37 AM ET

Trevor Foss did not show any signs of second year blues as the Sydney Blue Sox starter tossed a gem to defeat the Adelaide Bite 10-1 on Opening Night in Sydney.

Foss used some early run support to perfection, as he finished with seven strikeouts in six innings.

The only blemish on Foss' line was a solo blast to Bite leadoff man Rodrigo Ayarza.

Blue Sox stalwart Trent D'Antonio began his eighth ABL campaign in style, claiming three hits at the top of the lineup, while 2004 Olympic silver medallist Gavin Fingleson made a massive impact in his first ABL game.

The 41-year-old finished with three RBI in an outstanding performance.

Normally a tough ballpark to get out of, the Blue Sox lineup showed plenty of power as Connor MacDonald, Chiang Chih-hsien and Michael Suchy all nailed home runs.

Chiang, a highly rated Taiwanese power hitter finished with three hits and two RBI in his Sydney Blue Sox debut.

Reliever Todd Grattan finished with two scoreless innings, as the Blue Sox claimed their first win of the season in dominant fashion.

The Bite and Blue Sox lock horns again tomorrow in a doubleheader, with the second game streamed live on
