Hot on the heels of the news of James Beresford's promotion to the Big Leagues, we're happy to announce than another Australian playing in the Majors is on his way to the Aces for season 2016/17.

Big League veteran and the 22nd Australian to play a Major League Baseball game, Peter Moylan is en route to the Melbourne Aces for season 2016/17.

Currently on assignment with the Kansas City Royals, Moylan will join the Aces as the team's Pitching Coach with the intention of being added to the bullpen post-Christmas as a part of his preparations for the 2017 World Baseball Classic.

The 37 year-old side-arm reliever is credited with 367 games of Major League Baseball over the best of 10 years including stints with the Atlanta Braves, LA Dodgers, Houston Astros and now Kansas City with the Royals 2016 bullpen rated as one of the most effective in baseball.

Moylan's 2016 has included appearances in 36 games, boasting a 2-0 record and 3.48 earned run average (ERA).

"I'm just excited to get back into an Aces uniform this summer" said Moylan.

"It's a really exciting time in baseball in Australia and I'm really looking forward to being able to give back with some of the things I've picked up over the journey here in the States.

"I'm hearing good things about the Aces this year and at this stage the plan is to get into the bullpen post-Christmas and help push the team towards another finals berth".

The Melbourne Aces 2016/17 season gets underway on Friday 18 November against the four-time ABL Champions the Perth Heat.
