Pre-Season Series 2 Game 1

23 October 2014 - The Alcohol. Think Again Perth Heat played the USA All-Stars in their pre-season game on Thursday, 23rd October at Barbagallo Ballpark. While it was a hard fought battle by both teamsthe Heat and the USA All-Stars tied 2-2.

Opening on the mound for the Heat was Shawn Sanford with a no hitter in the first. The Heat struggled in the top of the second with a walk, an error and a run finishing the inning 0-1. 

The Heat brought the fire in the fourth. The inning started with Tim Kennelly getting on base after a fielding error followed by Luke Hughes hitting a double to center. Tim Smith proceeded with a hit down the line, to get the running Kennelly and Hughes in to tie the game 2-2.

Cameron Lamb relieved Sanford in the fifth after giving up only 2 hits. Joey Wong ended the fifth turning a double, holding the USA All-Stars to 2-2.  Jorge Marbon closed the game pitching for the Heat, powering through the ninth with only a hit. The Heat squandered an opportunity in the bottom of the ninth with bases loaded and 0 outs. Tim Smith fouled out to first, Allen De San Miguel reached on a fielder's choice with Joey Wong thrown out at the plate, and Matt Kennelly flied out to left field to end the game 2-2.

The Alcohol. Think Again will play the USA All-Stars again tomorrow night on 24 October. The Heat will open the 2014-2015 Australian Baseball League season and the defense of the Claxton Shield on 31 October against the Sydney Blue Sox at Barbagallo Ballpark at 7:20pm.
