New Era named headwear provider

The Australian Baseball League (ABL) today announced that New Era Cap Co., Inc., the world's leading headwear designer and manufacturer, and the official cap of Major League Baseball, has been selected as its exclusive headwear provider. As part of the landmark agreement, all six of the League's teams will don New Era's iconic 59FIFTY caps, when the inaugural 40-game season begins on 6 November 2011.

New Era will also provide the exclusive headwear merchandise for the ABL and each of its clubs: the Adelaide Bite, Brisbane Bandits, Canberra Cavalry, Melbourne Aces, Perth Heat and Sydney Blue Sox.

ABL Baseball Operations Manager Ben Foster said the alliance highlights the League's commitment to providing a world-class baseball experience.

The Australian Baseball League (ABL) is Australia's premiere professional baseball competition, and will commence its inaugural season in November 2010. The establishment of the ABL is the latest success in the long-term partnership between MLB and the ABF. The Major League Baseball Australian Academy Program began in 2001 to provide world-class coaching, training and development opportunities for elite young players and has led to a 40% increase in the number of Australians playing professional and college baseball.
