Bandits CEO Mark Ready to pass baton to next generation.
03/11/2019 12:26 AM ET

Mark Ready has finally decided to step down as CEO. After announcing his retirement in the 2017/18 only to come back and take on private ownership of the Brisbane Bandits when Baseball Australia announced moving to the private franchise licensing model.

He has led the franchise to 4 consecutive championships over 5 years honouring his inaugural promise to lift the Bandits to the winner's podium.

"I promised the players, fans and sponsors that nobody would laugh at the Bandits again. I promised them that their future was bright and their destiny was calling. We have just arrived, we have created something special that still has a long way to run." Ready said.

Today he said he would be passing the baton on to the next generation for vigour and fresh ideas.

"We need to renew the ideas and leadership to carry us on into the future. Winning is awesome but it's also very draining, so it's time to pass the baton on to the young guns."

Ready, due to step down on June 30 or before will announce his successor in the coming days. He will take on the role of Bandits Player Advocate which will include Recruitment, Welfare and Team Executive Officer.

"My focus is and has always been my players. I've known most of these guys all their playing lives. My son Jack played for 12 years with the Windsor Royals, along with my years of playing, umpiring, EO, coaching, Vice President and President, you get to know a lot of people over that time. I'll be looking to bring a new generation of Aussie players through the ranks over the next 4 years. I'll also get to spend more time annoying one of my best friends, David Nilsson."

A new era of Bandits leadership is set to be unveiled soon.
