Chaffee's start to the season was not the smoothest but the American closer quickly bounced back with clinical performances, and he ultimately allowed runs in just four of his 20 appearances.

He played the most games of any Bite pitcher while his 46 strikeouts were second to only Markus Solbach.

Some of his best work was a stretch of 12 games which saw Chaffee allow just five hits through 16 innings, and no runs.

GAMES: 20
ERA: 3.71
INNINGS: 26.2
RUNS: 14
STRIKEOUTS: 46
WHIP: 1.13

The highlight

On a day where Michael Gettys clubbed three homers in a comeback 7-5 win, Chaffee anchored the performance with five strikeouts in three innings. He picked up the W with a hit and a walk the only blemishes.

What's next?

Chaffee returns to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in the Atlantic League, a team he made 70 appearances for last year. He will play alongside former Bite hitter and current Blue Crabs player/hitting coach Craig Maddox.
