Season Review: Ryo Takeuchi
Lefty proved to be the perfect bullpen option
02/11/2019 8:20 PM ET

Lefty Takeuchi only allowed runs in two of 11 appearances and with 19 strikeouts was the most prolific Japanese import.

He started with a bang, striking out four hitters on debut, in a performance that set the tone for his time down under.

Against Melbourne and Geelong-Korea he pitched in three games for each series showing just how well he can bounce back from pitching the previous day.

2018/19 ABL season

Games: 11
Innings: 16.1
ERA: 3.31
Strikeouts: 19
Runs: 6

The highlight

Behind six stellar innings from Kurt Heyer, Takeuchi helped sit down the Aces on November 23 in an 8-2 win. He tossed 1 2/3 innings with three strikeouts allowing just one lone hit.

What's next?

Takeuchi returns to action with Honda Suzuka. Suzuka last won the Intercity Baseball Tournament in 1994, Japan Amateur Baseball Association's premiere tournament.
