Few knew what to expect from Bruce Wang, other than the fact there would be some fun from the Chinese teenager with the name so similar to Batman's.

The 19-year-old quickly slotted into the Bite squad behind the scenes with confidence, his personality proving a hit with his new teammates.

Over the first half of the season the MLB China Academy prospect offered dependable back-up to catcher Mitch Edwards, while he also offered local young gun Mason Clavell some international competition.

Both players learned a considerable amount as a result.

The highlight

Behind the plate, Wang was a dependable player as any, 19 or older. With the bat he had few opportunities but his single against Geelong-Korea, in Geelong, was a glimpse of what will come with more first-team experience.

What's next?

The teenager signed with Philadelphia last year, meaning he is on the way to his first Minor League season. There's a chance he will again be in the same team as fellow Phillies Curtis Mead and Mitch Edwards in Florida.
