In his first season with the Bite 19-year-old Edwards lifted his game to a new level.

The Melbourne-born, Canberra-living catcher started out as a rookie with the Cavalry before switching to Sydney last season where he hit .293. He upped those numbers at his third team.

On the back of Australia U23 selection there was some pressure on the rising star to perform well and many could argue he smashed all expectations.

He was named in the Players' Choice Team of the Year and the Team of the Week on four occasions, led the Club in hits and is a chance for more Australia selection.

Games: 38
Average: .321
Hits: 45
Runs: 17
RBI: 24
Home runs: 3

The highlight

Edwards was at his best through a run which saw him string together seven consecutive multi-hit games against Auckland, Perth and Geelong. He tallied 15 hits, seven runs and six RBI.

What's next?

Florida beckons for a second season in the Gulf Coast League with the Phillies. Edwards hit .250 last year, Philadelphia has been full of praise for the high reward prospect.
