Brisbane starter Tim Atherton punched out a career-high 13 hitters as the Bandits collected their first win of a vital Brut Australian Baseball League series against Canberra on Saturday afternoon.

Atherton tossed his first ABL complete game and his offence fired behind him in a 10-3 win at OneHub Stadium powered by Optus.

The former Cav dominated his old team, topping the 12 strikeouts he recored against them last season.

Atherton gave up a two-run homer to Michael Fransoso in the third but was otherwise dominant, finishing with three runs allowed on seven hits and a walk.

Andrew Campbell's three-run homer in the bottom of the third put the Brisbane on top and they did not look back.

Riley Unroe added a solo shot in the fifth and Mitch Nilsson drove in a pair of runs as part of a four-run frame.

TJ Bennett blasted his 11th homer of the season in a three-run seventh.

The series concludes tonight at 6 local time with the Bandits chasing a split to pull level with the Cavs on 21 wins.
