The former big leaguer took Geelong-Korea starter Jin-Yong Jang deep with the bases loaded in the fourth to open the scoring.

He delivered with the bases loaded again an inning later against reliever Hwi Kwon.

The two swings of the bat were all Melbourne needed to pull level in its four-game series against South-West Division rivals GK.

Geelong-Korea opened its account in the sixth inning but its rally fell short.

Hak-Jun Noh doubled to start the inning and scored on Seung-Won Shin's one-out single.

Noh doubled again in the eighth to spark a GK rally.

Shin walked and Dong-Gyun Woo doubled to right field to score both runners.

But Woo was caught stealing to end the threat.

Shin collected three of Geelong-Korea's seven hits.

Jarryd Dale and Darryl George finished with three hits each at the top of Melbourne's batting lineup.

The series continues from from 7pm on Saturday at Geelong Baseball Centre.
