Melbourne completed the rare doubleheader sweep against the Heat in Perth, taking a 5-3 win in Brut Australian Baseball League action this evening.

Dushan Ruzic was a key cog in the Aces victory, as the veteran starter tossed six strong innings and claimed his second win of the season.

The 36-year-old consistently kept Heat hitters off balance, and despite giving up three runs in the fifth inning, he returned to the mound unfazed, tossing a scoreless sixth.

Team Australia infielder Darryl George gave his team a perfect start, Melbourne's fan favourite nailed his seventh homer in his last five games at Perth-Harley Davidson Ballpark, giving the Aces an early advantage.

Melbourne (11-4) kept the pressure on Perth (10-5) throughout the ballgame, as they consistently found ways on base.

Mike Walker went 2-for-4 for Melbourne, while George continued to anchor the Aces offence, nailing his fourth homer of the season.

Pete Kozma's two-RBI double began a three-run inning for the Heat, but Ruzic along with bullpen arms Christian Meister and Scott Kuzminsky kept their composure to secure a league-leading 11th win for Melbourne.

Heat utility Chris Betts was an impossible out for Melbourne, as he went 4-for-4 while fellow Tampa prospect Cristopher Sanchez lowered his season ERA to 2.16.

The series finale takes place at 4.05pm AWST tomorrow, with every pitch live and free on ABLTV.
