Melbourne has inflicted Perth's first home loss of the Brut Australian Baseball League season at Perth Harley-Davidson Ballpark on Saturday afternoon.

The Aces rode a pair of third-inning runs to a 3-2 win in the first game of a doubleheader between the South-West Division leaders.

Mike Walker doubled to drive in the go-ahead run after Jake Romanski's RBI-single pulled Melbourne level.

The Aces added an insurance run in the fourth on an error and it proved vital.

Pete Kozma came up big against Byung-Hyun Kim in a battle of two former big leaguers in the fifth, homering to bring Perth within a run.

But Hiromasa Saito and Tyler Fallwell combined to shut the door for Melbourne.

Earlier, the Heat scored the opening run of the game on Robbie Glendinning's two-out double in the first.

Perth finished with seven hits to the Aces' four.

The loss was the Heat's first in six outings at home this season.

Game two of the Saturday doubleheader between the South-West Division pacesetters will start shortly.
