Sydney can complete its second series sweep of the season on Sunday after continuing its dominance of Auckland with a 5-1 Brut Australian Baseball League win on Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Sox swept their doubleheader at McLeod Park and took an unassailable 3-0 series lead on the back of a fast start and strong start by Nick Fanti.

Sydney scored four runs in the top of the first to put the Tuatara on the backfoot.

The Sox opening run came on an error before Gift Ngoepe (single), Jack Murphy (sacrifice fly) and Alex Howe (single) drove in runs.

Sydney extended its lead to five runs on Shen Hao-Wei's third-inning double.

Fanti was tremendous working with the early lead.

The Philadelphia Phillies prospect struck out the first seven batters he faced and finished with nine strikeouts.

He allowed a run on three hits and a walk in five innings of work to record his first win in the ABL.

Auckland plated its only run of the contest in the bottom of the fourth.

Daniel Lamb-Hunt hit a lead-off double and scored on a Kris Richards' groundball after advancing to third on a wild pitch.

Tuatara starter Atsuki Taneichi was effective despite falling behind early.

He allowed three earned runs on eight hits and three walks with seven strikeouts across 5 2/3 innings.

The series wraps up from 3pm local time tomorrow.
