Sydney starter Luke Wilkins took a no-hitter into the fifth inning as the Blue Sox took game one of their Brut Australian Baseball League doubleheader against Auckland on Saturday.

Wilkins was dominant on the mound, not allowing a run until the bottom of the seventh, as Sydney went two games up in the series with a 7-1 win at McLeod Park.

Jacob Younis put the Sox on top with two out in the third.

Younis singled to right field to drive home Alex Howe (single) and Shen Hao-Wei (single).

Gift Ngoepe added to Sydney's advantage in the top of the sixth, singling to score Dwayne Kemp (double).

The Sox put up four runs in the top of the seventh.

Wilkins stifled the Tuatara bats in an outstanding outing.

He did not allow a hit until Kris Richards' lead-off single in the bottom of the fifth and only gave up a run in the final dig.

Wilkins finished with seven strikeouts, allowing one run on three hits and two walks.

Auckland starter Kyle Glogoski allowed two runs on six hits in five innings.

Younis finished with three hits for Sydney.

Game two of the doubleheader will start at 3pm local time.
