Donald Lutz will put retirement on hold - for one more season - and take part in the Brisbane Bandits' quest for a four-peat in 2018/2019.

Lutz led the ABL - alongside teammate TJ Bennett - with 16 regular-season home runs in 2016/17 as the Bandits claimed a third-straight title.

He hit .281 with 39 RBIs in 36 regular-season appearances and homered in game two of the ABLCS against Canberra.

All up the former big leaguer has played 111 regular-season games across four ABL seasons with Canberra and Brisbane.

Lutz is a career .280 hitter in the ABL with 30 homers and 103 runs batted in.

The Bandits have so far announced Mitch Nilsson, Tim Atherton, Ryan Searle, Logan Wade, Matt Timms, Sam Holland, David Sutherland, Andrew Campbell, Ryan Battaglia, Wade Dutton and Justin Erasmus will return for another season.

They have also secured the services of Minnesota Twins' prospect - and former Melbourne Aces pitcher - Lewis Thorpe along with former Adelaide Bite closer Loek van Mil.

Brisbane opens the 2018/19 season at home to Adelaide on November 15.
