Cavs retain star starter for 2018/19
Left-hander led ABL with 1.80 ERA last season

The Canberra Cavalry have retained a key figure in their starting rotation with Frank Gailey set to return for a second Australian Baseball League season.

The Cavs today announced Gailey had signed on for season 2018/2019 as Canberra aims to go one better after falling to Brisbane in last season's ABL Championship Series.

Gailey, 32, was instrumental in the Cavs' run to the final game of the season.

The left-hander went 4-0 nine regular-season appearances, compiling a league-best ERA of 1.80.

He recorded 59 strikeouts - fifth in the ABL - and formed one of the league's top rotations alongside Brian Grening, Lake Bachar and Steve Kent.

Gailey also tossed 7 1/3 scoreless innings and punched out 12 as Canberra took down Perth in game three of their ABLSF.

The Cavs open the 2018/2019 season on the road to Melbourne from November 15-18.
