08/01/2018 10:29 PM ET

Auckland will be home to New Zealand's first professional baseball team when it joins the Australian Baseball League for the 2018/19 season.

The Auckland team will host the Brisbane Bandits in week two of the ABL season (November 22-25), with the full home and away schedule to be revealed tomorrow.

Three of the team's five home series will be played in Auckland, while the team's final two home series will be played in Australia.

Baseball Australia Chief Executive Officer Cam Vale says the venues for Auckland's home series in Australia are yet to be finalised, with a number of parties expressing interest.

"We have had interest from a number of key regional centres regarding hosting Auckland's two remaining home series," Vale said.

"To have the ability to bring top level baseball to more regional centres is exciting for the growth of game."

Baseball New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Ryan Flynn confirmed QBE Stadium in Auckland would be the team's home for the 2019/20 season.

"We are working harder than ever to provide New Zealand baseball fans with the permanent venue they deserve, which will be ready for the team's second season," Flynn said.

"Having three series in Auckland will give New Zealand baseball fans a taste of what to expect."

Baseball New Zealand will shortly announce an Open Day where it will reveal the team's venue for the 2018/19 season as well as the team's nickname and uniform. Players and coaches will also be revealed.
