Daniel McGrath worked five solid innings in his second start of the season for Double-A Portland Sea Dogs on Wednesday morning (Australian time)
The Melbourne Aces' left-hander allowed one run on five hits and a walk while striking out three in the Sea Dogs' 2-1 loss to Binghamton Rumble Ponies.
McGrath gave up two early doubles - as the Rumble Ponies took the lead - before retiring the next 10 hitters he faces.
He used 67 pitches to navigate five innings in front of 7368 fans at Hadlock Field.
McGrath's ERA dropped to 3.06 on the season for the 32-51 Portland.
Elsewhere, Lewis Thorpe (Melbourne Aces) was named Southern League Pitcher of the Week after starring for Chattanooga Lookouts.
Thorpe recorded 19 strikeouts in two games, including a career-high 12 in seven one-hit innings against Biloxi Shuckers.

The left-hander allowed a run in 2 2/3 innings before a rain delay in his latest start on Tuesday morning, dropping his ERA to 4.04 this season.
Thorpe leads the Lookouts - and is third in the Southern League - for strikeouts.
Another Aces' pitcher, Josh Tols, continues to baffle opposition hitters.
The former Adelaide Bite left-hander has not allowed an earned run in his past five outings for Double-A Reading Fightin Phils.
In six games for the Fightin Phils he has compiled a 1.42 ERA, restricting opposition hitters to a .053 average.

+ Cameron Warner (Canberra Cavalry) is off to a hot start for the Connecticut Tigers. Warner is hitting .277 with five RBIs in 13 games.
+ Ulrich Bojarski (Perth Heat) swung a hot bat with Connecticut Tigers in the past week, going 6-for-20 after a slow start to the season. Bojarski lifted his average from .056 to .184 in the space of five games.
+ Alex Hall (Perth Heat) is hitting .269 with four RBIs for the AZL Brewers.
+ Jake Turnbull (Perth Heat) lifted Billings Mustangs to victory over Missoula Osprey with a walk-off pinch-hit single on Tuesday morning. Turnbull his averaging .212 this season.
+ Justin Williams (Brisbane Bandits) went 10-for-32 with eight runs batted in for Triple-A Durham Bulls in the past week.
+ Williams' Durham teammate Ji-Man Choi (Adelaide Bite) drove in seven runs and went 6-for-22 in six games during the week.
+ Michael Brosseau (Perth Heat) homered three times in the past week, finishing 5-for-19 with seven runs batted in for Double-A Montgomery Biscuits.
+ Jamie Westbrook (Sydney Blue Sox) went 9-for-27 with five RBIs and a homer for Double-A Jackson Generals.
+ Tayler Saucedo (Canberra Cavalry) worked at least seven innings for a seventh time in 15 games for Class A-Advanced Dunedin Blue Jays on Saturday morning. Saucedo punched out seven and allowed just one run on three hits and a walk. He was this morning promoted to Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
+ Keon Broxton (Sydney Blue Sox) denied Brian Dozier a homer with a stunning leap in centre field for the Milwaukee Brewers this morning.
