Jack O'Loughlin has made a dazzling start to his Minor League career, striking out five hitters in four hitless innings in his first appearance for the Class A Connecticut Tigers.

With their previous game postponed due to rain, O'Loughlin was had to wait for the newly scheduled game 1 of the doubleheader to finish and by the time he stepped out to start game 2 it was after 10PM local time.

As soon as he stepped onto the mound it was clear O'Loughlin was in charge, with the 18-year-old picking up his first strikeout in the first inning while taking a superb catch on a linedrive hit straight back to him.

By the time his day was done he had only given up one base on a hit pitch and had thrown 32 strikes from his 55 pitches. Unfortunately the Tigers could not hold on against Vermont with the Lake Monsters walking off a 1-0 ballgame in the eighth on the back of their only hit of the game.

Elsewhere, Jordan McArdle went 2-for-4 with a walk in his first game of the season, scoring one run as the AZL D-Backs won 7-0. At first base he was perfect, completing six outs for the game.
