Head Coach for the Brisbane Bandits, David Nilsson has had one of the most influential baseball careers in Australian history. Nilsson's coaching career with the Bandits began in 2014 and since then he has led the team to three consecutive Claxton Shields. Nilsson brings a plethora of expertise and experience to his position as Head Coach for the Bandits and now has the opportunity to coach at a National level.

We spoke to David Nilsson to discuss his success as Head Coach for the Brisbane Bandits.

How has your role as Head Coach for the Brisbane Bandits influenced your career and how will that help with your new role as Manager for Team Australia?

"It's such an honour to be given the responsibility to be a National coach. I would never be in this position without the success that the Brisbane Bandits have achieved. Without the leadership or Mark Ready and all the volunteer and supporters, the coaches and players, all supports the success that we've had in Brisbane. It really has put me in the position to have this job and it's no secret - without their success I wouldn't be here."

We also sat down with the Brisbane Bandits Principal Owner, Mark Ready to discuss David Nilsson's new role as Team Australia's Manager.

As Bandits Principal Owner, what does it mean to have your Head Coach selected as the Manager for Team Australia?

"For the Bandits it doesn't change much, David is David and he is the Head Coach of the Brisbane Bandits and hopefully he continues in that role. For the country I think it's really exciting, he's one of the most influential figures in baseball that I've spoken to in my entire life; we've spent a lot of time together over the last 5 years and he has passed on some of the smartest baseball knowledge that I've ever heard. It's going to do the country well and I know that he will do the country proud and he will do the job right. These are very exciting times."

The Brisbane Bandits organisation would like to congratulate David on this incredible achievement.
