ABL structure update
Board meeting to ratify successful bids
05/29/2018 12:39 AM ET

The structure of the Australian Baseball League from season 2018/2019 will be confirmed following Baseball Australia's board meeting on June 5.

Baseball Australia chief executive officer Cam Vale said the structure of the ABL would be approved at the meeting.

Vale released the following statement ahead of the June 5 board meeting:

"Baseball Australia senior management has now reviewed and endorsed all formal proposals for the structure of the ABL for season 2018/2019. All final bids for the remaining team licenses have been compiled and presented to the board.

In anticipation of this, the Baseball Australia board has brought forward their scheduled board meeting to the earliest available date to fully ratify all bids at the June 5 meeting.

Throughout this process, the interest both domestically and internationally has been substantial.

To secure the long-term future of the league is exciting, especially with Winterball Korea committing for the next five years.

As we finalise the last of the licence agreements, we will be in a position to confirm how many teams will participate in the 2018/19 ABL season, as well as the location for the recently announced Winterball Korea team."
