A dominant seven-inning pitching display from Rebecca Torpy has powered Western Australia's Open Women to a bronze medal at the Australian Women's Championship in Geelong.

WA downed South Australia 7-1 as Torpy conceded just one unearned run and struck out six batters on her way to the win.

Torpy backed up her pitching with two RBIs with the bat, while Natalie House and Morgan Doty also collected RBIs for WA.

Baseball WA Chief Executive, Lachlan Dale says winning bronze is a great achievement for the team.

"We're really proud of how the girls performed in Geelong," he said.

"They showed great resistance to stick in there and come home with a medal.

"I just want to congratulate everyone who pulled on the WA strip and did our state proud."

After finishing with a 4-2 record during the Opening Round, WA clinched the third-seed heading into the Medal Round.

Despite dropping their first two games 8-2 to Victoria Blue and 4-0 against New South Wales, WA stormed back to claim a 15-5 win over South Australia in a preview of the bronze medal game.

NSW took out the title after beating Victoria Blue in the final 7-6.

In the Women's Youth Championships, held at the same venue, WA slipped to a 0-4 record to miss out on the medals, as Victoria took gold.
