The Perth Heat have their eyes on reaching a first Australian Baseball League Final since 2013/14 when they host the Canberra Cavalry in a best of three-game semi-final series at the Perth Harley-Davidson Ballpark starting Friday.

After finishing second spot on the ABL ladder, the Heat have secured home advantage for the series, something outfielder Garrett Whitley says the team will look to capitalise on.

"To not have to travel and play in front of our own crowd is huge," he said.

Whitley and the rest of the Heat team have fared well against the Cavalry, winning five of eight games this season, including a record-breaking 32-10 win on New Year's Eve.

"The last time Canberra came here we put up 32 on them, so hopefully we can keep up that same momentum," Whitley said.

In team news, pitcher Dylan Thompson and infielder Matt Dixon return, while southpaw Brad Williams and veteran Adam Courcha drop out.

Thompson and Dixon haven't appeared for the Heat since Round 8, but find themselves back in the mix for the playoffs.

On the pitching front, Alex Boshers and Matt Kennelly are slated to start Games One and Two, with Kyle Simon waiting in the wings if a deciding Game Three is required.

All of the games will be aired on ABL.tv, and you can buy your tickets HERE!
