Donald Lutz and T.J. Bennett equalled the ABL single-season home run record as Brisbane fought back to split its series with Canberra on Saturday night.

Lutz homered in the third, matching former Melbourne slugger Kellin Deglan's single-season home run record, before Bennett joined the party in the sixth of a 12-2 victory at Narrabundah.

Former big leaguer Travis Blackley tossed five scoreless innings for the Bandits, striking out three and giving up five hits.

Lutz's blast opened the scoring in the third and Brisbane blew the game open two innings late.

The Bandits added four runs, racing to a 5-0 lead, on back-to-back homers from Mitch Nilsson and Logan Wade.

Nilsson's eighth homer of the season - a three-run shot - came after Cavs' starter Steven Kent allowed a one-out single to Lin Chih-sheng and hit Bennett with a pitch.

Bennett extended Brisbane's lead - joining Lutz and Deglan with 16 homers in a season - with a two-run shot off Canberra reliever Liam Shearer after Lin walked.

Andrew Campbell added the Bandits' fifth homer - his ninth of the season - off reliever Jake Green.

They were not done yet, adding five runs in the top of the seventh.

Brisbane will now turn its attention to a best-of-three semi-final series against Melbourne at Holloway Field next weekend.

The Cavs will travel to Perth for a best-of-three series.
