The Perth Heat's Steve Fish and Andy Kyle have been named part of the Team Australia coaching set-up for their upcoming baseball tour of Japan.

Fish, who managed the Heat for three seasons and won two ABL Championships will manage the team on an interim basis.

"I'm extremely excited and absolutely humbled as well. To be in this position has always been a goal of mine at a national level," Fish said.

The former Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim minor leaguer has experience at International level with the Australian Under 18's, having coached them at two World Cups in 2015 and 2017.

"Ultimately it's our job to put out the best lineup possible and win ballgames and qualify for the 2020 Olympics," the 2015 Baseball Australia Coach of the Year said.

Fish will have company in the dugout in the form of current Perth Manager Kyle, who will be an Assistant Coach on the team.

Having managed the Wanneroo Giants in the WA State League, the former infielder took on the top job at the Heat at the start of the season.

"It's a big challenge - there's a long road ahead. It's a fantastic opportunity," Kyle said.

Team Australia will take on Japan at the Nagoya Dome on 3 March, before travelling to Osaka on 4 March.

The playing roster will be announced following the completion of the current ABL season, with plenty of Heat players expected to feature after a strong domestic season.
