Starter Frank Gailey struck out 11 and David Kandilas homered twice as Canberra shut out Adelaide at Narrabundah on Friday night.

The Cavs (17-12) built a 2-0 series lead over the bottom-placed Bite (7-23), winning 6-0 to keep pressure on the ABL top-two.

Kandilas went deep in his first two at-bats as Canberra got off to a hot start.

The outfielder opened the scoring with a solo shot in the first and added a two-run bomb - his eighth of the season - in the bottom of the third.

Gailey, working with a lead, was dominant as he picked up a second ABL win.

The left-hander allowed a leadoff single to Rodrigo Ayarza in the first and did not give up another hit until Stephen Lohr's one-out double in the seventh.

Gailey tossed seven scoreless frames, allowing two hits, walking one and punching out a season-high 11 hitters.

Adelaide starter Ryo Koura worked five innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out six.

Cameron Warner added a two-run double in the eighth to complete a dominant victory for the Cavs.

Kandilas and Jay Baum anchored Canberra's offence, both finishing with three hits.

The Bite managed just three hits as they were blanked for the fifth time this season.

The series continues at 7pm local time on Saturday.
