Donald Lutz went deep with his league-leading ninth home run as Brisbane secured a series win over Sydney on Saturday night.

The Bandits (18-7) brushed the Sox (10-16) aside 14-1 at Blacktown International Sports Park, taking an unassailable 3-0 series lead and extending their winning streak against Sydney to eight games.

After the teams traded first-inning runs, Brisbane took the lead for good in the second.

Logan Wade reached on an error and was driven in on a double by Wade Dutton.

The Bandits broke the game open in the fifth with Lutz's ninth home run - a three-run shot off Sox starter Craig Anderson - sparking an offensive burst.

Brisbane's bats went berserk, pushing the lead out beyond 10 runs.

The Bandits scored 12 runs across four innings, again punishing Sydney's bullpen.

Brisbane had five players with multi-hit nights and Lutz and Lin Chih-sheng had four-RBI games as the Bandits wrapped up an 18th win of the season.

Wade Dutton homered in the eighth, going deep for the sixth time this season.

Brisbane starter Tim Atherton allowed one run on four hits, striking out five.

Bandits' reliever Justin Erasmus then tossed four scoreless innings, scattering just four hits.

Brisbane will chase a series sweep in game four on Sunday.

Play will start at the earlier time of 11am AEDT with extreme heat forecast in Blacktown.
