Boosted by a drought-breaking win earlier in the day, Sydney took a 2-1 series lead over Melbourne in game two of their Saturday doubleheader.

The Blue Sox took advantage of a strong start by Luke Wilkins and errors by the Aces to record a 4-1 win at Melbourne Ballpark.

Sydney opened the scoring in the fourth when Michael Suchy singled and then scored on a fielding error by Tyler Neslony.

The Blue Sox added three runs to their lead in the sixth.

Jacob Younis doubled and Suchy singled to lead off the top half of the inning.

Younis scored on a fielder's choice to make it 2-0 before a single by Connor MacDonald - combined with another error - doubled Sydney's advantage.

Jordan Barnett scored for Melbourne on an error in the bottom of the seventh to reduce the lead to three runs.

Blue Sox starter Luke Wilkins allowed one unearned run in 6 2/3 innings, giving up five hits and punching out five.

Chang-Sung Ko then pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings to close the door on the Aces.

Melbourne starter Josh Tols struck out eight in six innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits.

After ending a nine-game losing streak in game one of Saturday's doubleheader, Sydney is now in a position to win the series on Sunday.
