Adelaide has avoided a series sweep - and notched its second win of the ABL season - against Canberra on Saturday afternoon.

The Bite took advantage of a shaky outing by Cavs' starter Sean Guinard to score three early runs in a 4-2 victory at Adelaide Shores

Adelaide starter Max Beatty tossed a complete game after intially being left out of the rotation before rain caused havoc in the four-game series.

The right-hander allowed two runs on five hits, striking out eight and not issuing a walk.

Guinard walked five Bite hitters, including two with the bases loaded, and Chang Tai-shan drove in his sixth run of the season to give the hosts a 3-0 lead.

It was enough to chase Guinard from the game and give Adelaide the buffer it needed to secure its second win of the season at its 12th attempt.

Canberra tacked on two runs in the second as Gabriel Arias continued his hot series with a two-run single.

Bite catcher Isaias Quiroz ended an 0-for-7 run to start the series with his first ABL home run to make it 4-2 in the third.

Tayler Saucedo pitched 1.2 scoreless innings in his Cavs' debut and Tyler Herr did not allow a score in two solid innings.

Adelaide, now 2-10, heads to Perth in round four while Canberra (6-5) hosts Melbourne.
