Chih-Sheng Lin, Taiwan superstar, will be joining the Bandits roster for the 2017-2018 season. Chih-Sheng Lin, known as Ake, began his professional baseball career in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) in 2004 with the La New Bears. Ake recently signed the highest paid contract with the Chinatrust Brothers for US$1.3 million over three years.

He brings a wealth of experience within his 13 years in professional baseball. Ake competed in the 2008 Olympic games, the 2017 and 2013 World Baseball Classic, and won the gold medal in the Asian Games (2006).

Ake's numbers and awards speak for themselves. Throughout Ake's outstanding professional career, he won four CPBL Home run titles, was a five-time CPBL Best Ten Award over (2006-2009, 2015), CPBL MVP (2015), CPBL Golden Glove (2007), Taiwan Series MVP (2012, 2015), and crowned Taiwan Series Champion (2006, 2012, 2014, 2015).

Ake is the first player in the CPBL to have a .300 batting average, 30 home runs, and 30 steals in a single season. He is considered the top infielder for the CPBL with the most explosive power in Taiwan.

Chih-Sheng Lin (Ake), "I am really excited about playing for the Brisbane Bandits this season, and I plan to work hard, bring all my effort, energy, and talent, to helping Brisbane have a successful season".

David Nilsson, head coach of the Bandits, is excited to add Ake to his impressive roster. "I am looking forward to seeing Ake bringing his ability which made him one of the greats in Taiwan. He should complement the diverse talent the Bandits already have in their lineup."

In 2016, the Bandits were first in the Australian Baseball League (ABL) in batting average (.283), homeruns (42), total bases (588), doubles (74), and runs scored (234). In 2017, with the inclusion of Ake, the Bandits aim to repeat their success offensively and defensively.

Mark Ready, CEO of the Bandits, believe Ake is a crucial component to their success this year as he states, "I have been following Ake's career for the last 4 years. It was always a dream of mine to have him play for the Bandits and now it's a reality. Over the many years of visiting Taiwan, we have become close friends like so many of the guys in the CPBL. So not only is it an honour to have his legendary status join the Bandits, but it's great to have another mate playing alongside of us in our quest for a third shield."

Taiwan will be paying close attention to Brisbane and the Australian baseball league, as their hometown hero competes with the Bandits. The Bandits begin their quest for a third straight Australian Baseball League title this Thursday, 16 November against the Canberra Cavalry at Holloway Field at 6:30pm.
