Heat sign first round MLB draft pick
The Perth Heat have secured the signature of a 2015 first round MLB draft pick and LSU star

Garrett Whitley was selected with the 13th pick in the first-round of the 2015 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays and joins the HEAT for 2017/18.

Whitley, a 20-year-old outfielder has played 211 Minor League games for the Rays and is set to play an important role for the HEAT both at the plate and in the field. 

 

Jake Fraley joins the HEAT for 2017/18 to bolster the outfield ranks. The 22-year-old who plays primarily as a center fielder was drafted by Tampa Bay in 2016 and has since amassed 85 Minor League games. 

The left-handed hitter adds nice balance and speed to the HEAT batting lineup after stealing 33 bases in 2016.
