Aces GM named Baseball Victoria CEO
08/15/2017 1:00 AM ET

Aces General Manager Justin Huber has this week been named CEO of Baseball Victoria.

In his two full seasons at the helm of the Aces, Huber's influence has been felt off the field as much as on the field. Season 2016/17 saw a number of firsts for the club on the field, but equally Huber's impact as an administrator has seen the Aces turn into one of the ABL's most sustainable franchises in a very short period of time.

The move is being touted as another step towards further operational alignment of the Melbourne Aces and Baseball Victoria and Huber says he's not quite ready to relinquish the Aces reigns just yet.

"You definitely haven't lost me no. The Aces are something I'm extremely passionate about and something I want to see be successful in Victoria.

"To this day everyone talks about the glory days of the ABL through the 90s and I really believe we're on the right path to returning this ball club and the ABL back to that sort of status in Victoria.
"There's been a lot of work happening behind the scenes for some time now and it's an exciting time for our sport. I'm just thrilled the Board of Directors at Baseball Victoria has put their faith in me to get us through this next transitional period".

When asked about his current role as General Manager of the Aces, Huber say's there's no immediate replacement, and it'll be business as usual as the team prepares for another title tilt this coming season.

"Part of the work behind the scenes has been about finding efficiencies within and integrated model and without giving too much away, there'll be some new positions created which will give me the capacity to be able to act as a joint CEO.

"There'll be some changes for sure and we'll start to announce them in the coming weeks, but we'll look to implement will be with the betterment of the entire sport in mind".

So, what's next for the Aces?

"We've got the schedule now which is great, so we will go ahead and announce our Manager later this week.

"Other than that, we're working through depth charts are a long way down the track with our conversations with players for this season which include a couple of big name marquee signings.

"I think people will be genuinely excited by the team we're going to be able to get on the field this year and don't see any reason why we can't go one step further than we did last year".

The Aces 2017/18 campaign starts on Friday 17 November against four-time champions the Perth Heat. For advanced and bookings and group enquiries, contact the team on (03) 8360 9371 or get in touch with Billy via
