03/01/2017 6:29 PM ET

On Wednesday evening the SABL Divison 1 competition played it's penultimate round. With seven teams in contention for six playoff spots and only two teams clinched it was always set up for dramatics.

Buckle in, folks, here is your recap for Wednesday night.

But first...let's take a look at the final's race BEFORE Wednesday's game. Only the top six teams make the finals and two points are awarded per victory.

UPDATED TABLE

1. Kensington Cardinals - 49 points
2. Port Adelaide Magpies - 49 points
3. Goodwood - 47 points

4. Sturt Saints - 46 points
5. West Torrens - 46 points
6. Glenelg - 46 points
-------------------------
7. Adelaide - 44 points

WHAT THIS MEANS

Goodwood, Kensington and Port Adelaide have all clunched a finals spot. Glenelg has also clinched a finals spot because in any tie-breaking scenario Glenelg is through.

The rest is a bit more complicated. West Torrens, who were first place just 5 days ago, will miss the finals in the event of an Adelaide win and West Torrens loss.

Adelaide @ Port Adelaide

For any crazy scenario to take place Adelaide needs to beat Port Adelaide on the road. If Adelaide win they move to 46 points.

Glenelg @ West Torrens

Nightmare scenario for West Torrens if Adelaide win. That means that they have to win vs. Glenelg to avoid falling from first place to seventh place in just one week.
Southern Districts @ Sturt

Sturt will be the favourites here, but anything can happen. If Sturt lose and Adelaide win there will be a three-way tiebreak between Sturt, Adelaide and the loser of Glenelg/West Torrens.

Let's pretend Adelaide win and Sturt lose for a moment. If Glenelg beat West Torrens than Sturt and Adelaide make finals and the Eagles are eliminated. If West Torrens beat Glenelg than Sturt will be eliminated.

Other games:
East Torrens @ Goodwood
Kensington @ Northern Districts

Still with us? Let's recap how each team can make the finals:

1. Kensington Cardinals - 49 points
Clinched finals spot. One win = minor premiership

2. Port Adelaide Magpies - 49 points
Clinched finals spot. Need a Kensington loss and Port Adelaide win over Adelaide to win minor premiership

3. Goodwood - 47 points

4. Sturt Saints - 46 points
To clinch finals Sturt need one of the scenarios to happen:
1. Sturt win over Southern Districts

2. Adelaide loss to Port Adelaide

1. Southern Districts beat Sturt
2. Adelaide beat Port Adelaide
3. West Torrens beat Glenelg

5. West Torrens - 46 points
To clinch finals West Torrens need one of the scenarios to happen:
1. West Torrens win over Glenelg

2. Adelaide loss to Port Adelaide
West Torrens are eliminated if all of the scenarios happens:
