Sydney set for huge showdown
Veteran Anderson to face Guthrie

The Sydney Blue Sox (9-12) left handed pitcher Craig Anderson is going head to head with Jet Courier Melbourne Aces (16-5) right handed pitcher Jeremy Guthrie.

Craig Anderson is currently pitching off three wins and one loss for the Blue Sox with 17 strikeouts and an average of .282.

"The way the season is starting to unfold for us, we really need to start turning things around," Anderson said.

The Blue Sox are going up against the Aces after going down 4-3 in the last inning for Game One of the New Year's Eve series. Determined on getting the momentum back in the team, Anderson reflected on the addition of Guthrie to the Aces pitching roster.

"Guthrie is obviously an established MLB veteran who is going to prove a tough ask for us," stated Anderson.

"That won't change the way I approach my outing."

Jeremy Guthrie will start his ABL debut against the Blue Sox tonight. He has played in numerous MLB teams, his latest being the Kansas City Royals. Guthrie pitched during the 2015 World Series, Game 3 saw his first start in a World Series Game. His past season for the Royals he pitched a total of 148.1 innings with 186 hits, 84 strike outs and a 5.95 ERA.
