With the World Baseball Classic Qualifier upon us the MLB released the rosters for the tournament with four Sydney Blue Sox players selected.

The Blue Sox are represented by Trent D'Antonio and David Kandilas along with pitchers Todd Van Steensel and Wayne Lundgren.

"I am really proud to see four of our guys make the national team", said manager Jason Pospishil.

"I saw first-hand the amount of effort these guys put in and it's great to see that effort rewarded."

One of the leaders of the Blue Sox Trent D'Antonio had a career season in 2015/16 with 54 hits, 32 RBI's and .344 batting average in 45 games.

Being one of the statistical offensive leaders in the squad D'Antonio will offer Team Australia some great hitting along with versatility.

"He will give Jon (Deeble) a versatile option and provide him with an edge during the tournament", said Pospishil.

"I know the amount of effort he has put in especially during the offseason, he dedicated himself to his craft and put in the hard yards so it's no surprise to see him in that team."

To add to the veteran presence in the Team Australia squad is Todd Van Steensel who is no stranger to the national team.

Van Steensel is one of Sydney's elite pro players and has consistently displayed through the years what he offers.

Although only featuring for half of the season 'TVS' displayed solid performances and was crucial as a closer.

Fellow pitcher Wayne Lundgren's selection was also no surprise to Pospishil after a great season with the Blue Sox.

Pospishil maintains that statistically the 2015/16 season may not have been the greatest for Lundgren but his composure on the mound was vital to the successes the team had this season.

"I'm happy to see Wayne get selected, his stats may not show it but he had a great season for us. It's a great way to send the big fella off", said Pospishil.

Towards the end of the season Blue Sox outfielder David Kandilas joined the squad after knee injury and was great for the team.

Perhaps one of the best outfielders in Australia Jon Deeble will have a very talented player whose seven years' experience of professional ball will help his team secure victory.
