JAPAN -- ABL clashed in NPB when Brisbane's Drew Naylor of the Chunichi Dragons started against Adelaide's Mitch Dening and the Tokyo Yakult Swallows.

The Dragons won 6-1 and Naylor stole the show, tossing eight strong innings in his second start since signing with Chunichi in July. He allowed one run on four hits over those eight innings, and struck out six batters while walking just two.

In addition to earning the win, the former member of the Philadelphia Phillies' 40-man roster put his hitting skills on display, smashing a solo shot in the bottom of the fourth inning for his first home run of the season. With the win, Naylor is 1-0 in two starts on the season, and has 11 strikeouts in 14 innings pitched.

For the Swallows, Bite slugger Dening went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles, one of which came off his ABL adversary. Dening signed with the Swallows in May out of Japan's Baseball Challenge League, and is hitting .232 with four home runs and 22 RBIs in 57 games. He recently launched a game-winning two-run home run against the Yomiuri Giants, and remains a force at the bottom of the Swallows' lineup.
