ADELAIDE, 27 November - The Adelaide Bite, proudly presented by SA Power Networks, have announced the signing of former Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Chin-hui Tsao for the remainder of the 2014/15 ABL season.

Tsao was the first Taiwanese pitcher to be signed to an MLB team after being picked up by the Rockies in 1999. He made his debut as a starter for Colorado in 2003, and in his first outing as a starter, he picked up the win and subsequently became the first Taiwanese pitcher to compete in an MLB game. He also created a new record with bat in hand, becoming the first Taiwanese player ever to record a hit in the MLB.

Tsao also has represented Taiwan at many international tournaments including the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics. Tsao's ERA over the two tournaments was an impressive 1.93.

Injuries played a part in the early retirement of Tsao. However a few years out of the game have refuelled the desire to become a professional baseball player again, and the Bite are delighted that a pitcher of Tsao's quality has chosen Adelaide as his first step back.

Manager Brooke Knight is looking forward to Tsao's arrival.

"We are excited to have Tsao on board." Knight says. "He will make a positive impact right away. He will play a strong role in our quest for an ABL Championship."
