SYDNEY - The Australian Baseball League brought to you by Be the Influence: Tackling Binge Drinking is proud to announce that Sydney Blue Sox infielder Joey DeMichele and Adelaide Bite pitcher David Holman have been named Round 3 Player and Pitcher of the Week. Each played a large role in helping their respected teams come up victorious in their Round 3 series with Adelaide and Sydney claiming road series triumphs.

After getting off to a quiet start to the season, DeMichele caught fire in Round 3 as the Sydney Blue Sox were able to complete their three game sweep of the Brisbane Bandits. DeMichele entered Friday's game having gone hitless in four of his last five games but was unfazed at Holloway Field. In the first game of the series, DeMichele went 3-5 with two home runs and three runs batted in. He followed up his impressive Round 3 debut with with another multi-home run game. In Sydney's game two victory, DeMichele added two more homers as well as two RBI. Although the 22-year-old is hitting just .195 on the season, the Blue Sox hope his impressive round three performance is the start of something big.

Bite right-hander Holman picked up his first win of the season in Round 3as the Jet Couriers Melbourne Aces simply had no answer for him on 15 November. In his third start of the season, Holman threw 5 2/3 innings while allowing just one hit and no earned runs. Although Round 3 marked the 23-year-old's first victory, Holman has an impressive ERA of just 1.72, third-best among ABL starting pitchers. Holman is the second Adelaide arm to be named Pitcher of the Week following Kyle Brueggemann's honour in Round 2.

Both Round 3 honourees will be idle in Round 4. This weekend, four teams take the field in the ABL season's fourth week. The Brisbane Bandits will pay a visit to the Canberra Cavalry, driven by Rolfe Renault while the Alcohol. Think Again Perth Heat will play host to the Jet Couriers Melbourne Aces.
