Matt Kennelly Inks With The Braves
Returns to Atlanta Organization

PERTH- The Alcohol. Think Again Perth Heat have been informed that catcher Matt Kennelly has been signed by the Atlanta Braves for the 2014 stateside season in the USA.

Kennelly is making a return to the Atlanta organization after spending the second half of 2013 with the Cincinnati Reds at AAA Louisville in the International League. Kennelly began the 2013 season in the International League with the Atlanta AAA club in Gwinnett, Georgia before being released on May 13th. Kennelly was then picked up by the Reds and assigned to AA Pensacola in the Southern League on June 17th before the move to AAA on July 11th to finish the season. Kennelly hit .216 in 30 games last season combined at all three stops. In 2012 in 62 games the Perth native hit .254 with 22 RBI at AA Mississippi for the Braves.
The second oldest Kennelly brother on the Heat roster, Matt was signed by the Atlanta Braves as a non-drafted free agent on Aug. 18, 2005 and spent parts of seven seasons with the Braves. Kennelly has 19 home runs in 430 minor league games with a career average of .243.
In the Australian Baseball League Kennelly is off to a strong start for the Heat after missing last season in Australia. He has four RBI in the first four games he has played hitting .250 with a homer coming against Adelaide of 7 November. Kennelly contributed to the Heat's 2010 & 2011 championships hitting .306 and .297 respectively. Kennelly is expected to finish out the season with the Heat before heading to spring training with the Braves in Lake Buena Vista, Florida and the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Disney World Resort.
