POSTPONEMENT OF 2011-12 ABL OPENING DAY
11/03/2011 9:06 PM ET

It is with great disappointment that we advise that the start of the 2011-12 Australian Baseball League (ABL) season has been postponed, as the game that was scheduled to be played this evening between the 'Alcohol Think Again' Perth Heat and Adelaide Bite has been postponed due to inclement weather.

The game, scheduled to commence at Barbagallo Ballpark at 7:20pm local Perth time, was forced to be cancelled due to persistent rain and ongoing weather forecasts for the remainder of the evening.

General Manager of the ABL Ben Foster said while regrettable, the ABL was left with no other option and is certain this decision is the best course of action for the many fans expected to attend the Opening Day festivities in Perth.

The game has now been officially rescheduled to commence at 3:05pm (Local time) on Saturday, November 5th 2011. The game will be a nine-inning contest, played as the first game of a day-night double header; with the second game starting at the originally scheduled time of 7:20pm (local).

The game scheduled to commence at 7:20pm (local) on Friday, November 4th will proceed as planned and will become the first Game of the series between Perth Heat and Adelaide Bite.

All members, season ticketholders, and individual game ticket holders for Thursday's originally scheduled game will have their tickets honoured for entry to Game 1 of the double header on Saturday. Patrons must retain their tickets as proof of purchase. Further details will be available at www.perthheat.com.au.

The ABL remains committed to providing the best outcome for fans, and eagerly anticipates an exciting start to the 2011-12 ABL season with all six teams in actions tomorrow night.
