The Adelaide 'ETSA' Bite and the Sydney Blue Sox have received good news prior to the first round of the Australian Baseball League's Postseason with the announcement that three of their players have been named as the 'Fielders Choice' Players of the Week for Round 10.

Bite outfielder James McOwen won the batting award, while team mate Brandon Maurer and Blue Sox closer Koo Dae-Sung shared the pitching honours.

McOwen helped his team win five out of six games against the Brisbane Bandits in the final regular season round, connecting on nine hits for a .360 average that included five runs, eight RBIs and four home runs.

The 25-year-old left-hander from Florida was superb in Saturday's double-header, with a perfect four hits from four at bats in the first game before smashing two home runs in the second.

Adelaide starting pitcher Brandon Maurer brought up his fifth win of the season after pitching seven innings in the Bite's 12-0 mercy rule shortened game against the Brisbane Bandits on Friday.

Maurer conceded just one hit for the game in his shutout, did not allow a single walk, while striking out eight Bandits batters in a commanding performance.

In Canberra, the Sydney Blue Sox finished the regular season in first place in the standings after beating the Cavalry 3-1 in their four-game series, and closing pitcher Koo Dae-Sung was a key performer in their success.

Koo pitched in all three victories, earning a win and two saves, taking his overall save tally to an ABL-best 12. Koo's dominance as a closer this season is illustrated by the fact that the pitcher ranked second in terms of saves has totalled three.

The ABL Players of the Week are proudly presented by Fielders Choice, one of Australia's leading retailers of baseball equipment, and an official retail partner of the 'Alcohol Think Again' Perth Heat and Brisbane Bandits.
